A world where life is made better for all girls, women and children, enabling them to achieve their potentials, and live life fully.
To raise resilient girls, women and children to actively use their voices and realize their fullest potentials in life.
As an organization of dedicated individuals with unique ideas, we believe that working as a team will enable us to:
Ozioma Okoro Caring Hands Foundation (OOCHF) is a nonprofit organization established in 2021 with CAC/IT/NO:159709. It all started as the brainchild and vision of Ozioma Okoro. As a survivor of domestic abuse, Ozioma made it her calling to help vulnerable girls, women and children, especially survivors of domestic abuse, gender-based violence and social neglect.
As a fully-registered organization, we rely on the selfless efforts of a dedicated team, able volunteers, and community organizers to coordinate and execute charitable projects within Nigeria, with the view to further expand our reach within the next few years. Domestic violence and abuse are critical social issues that significantly affect women and girls, especially in impoverished societies with inadequate access to quality care for victims. Children are also often affected by the consequences of these issues. At our foundation, we believe in addressing these issues by creating safe spaces for survivors and also providing supportive structures for their empowerment and protection.
Our work as a nonprofit is driven by a support system structured to foster change and create lasting impact. This is possible due to the dedicated efforts of our team and able volunteers who help bring the following services to the girls, women and children who need them:
We provide secure and safe shelters where survivors can find refuge and support. Our helplines are readily available to offer quick help and crisis interventions.
Survivors are encouraged to partake in counseling sessions facilitated by trained professionals to help them overcome emotional/psychological trauma and begin healing. These sessions enable them to also share their stories and find mutual support.
Access to free medical examinations, laboratory tests and treatment is a core part of our services to survivors who need such. We also prioritize mental health by ensuring we allow those suffering severe trauma get the best professional help possible.
Survivors and victims of gender-based violence have the rights to pursue justice in specific cases. By offering access to free or subsidized legal services, we ensure that they take full advantage of the law to obtain justice against perpetrators of domestic violence and abuse.
Sensitization campaigns are important to raise awareness and encourage discourse around abuse, survivorsʼ rights and charitable practices. Our outreach strategies take these campaigns from social media to communal, local, national and international levels. We also educate children in schools about these issues as a way of preparing them for adulthood.
We coordinate skills acquisition and training programs to help survivors gain skills and become financially independent. In some cases, we provide small loans and grants as a way of supporting those with small businesses or educational pursuits.
